Stair Height
To measure the overall stair height you must measure the point where the stairs meet the ground floor to the finished floor level.
Total Going
The total going is the total distance the staircase will project along the floor. To calculate this, multiply the number of stair treads by the going of each tread.
Overall Stair Width
The overall width of the stairs should include tread width, stringers and handrail. Remember to measure the narrowest part if measuring in between walls. To meet building regulations the landing at the top or intermediate landings must be as long as the treads are wide.
